The Beautiful Move

What is the Beautiful Move?

We hit crossroads in our lives every day. Opportunities present themselves and we choose to call them in or let them pass. Either option can be the beautiful move.

The beautiful move is making the intentional decision to live the life that you want. It means building a story that you are going to be proud to tell. Doing the right thing, even at your own expense and living as your authentic self. Sometimes, the beautiful move is putting your heart and soul into a meal for someone you love. Other times it’s selling everything you own and moving to Mexico. I’m only partly kidding… Any number of moves can be beautiful as long as you are building your own perfect story.

I am a licensed real estate broker. I am also a musician, a festival organizer, a wildcrafter, a homesteader, and a father. Helping buyers find incredible opportunities in the real estate world was never the plan, but over and over again I am surprised at how perfectly it fits into my world.

My Beautiful Move

Keely and I built our band THE SHIFT from the ground up — an eight-piece circus ensemble with costumed dancers, giant inflatable tentacles, and original music with a single goal: to leave people better than we found them. We call it medicine music. We tour nationally, play festivals across the country, and spend chunks of every summer on stages in front of hundreds of people who came looking for something real. In 2021 we launched Departure Fest Northwest on the banks of Lake Leland in Quilcene. Three days, 600 attendees, incredible artists from all across the country, and a community that showed up and made something worth remembering. That festival taught me more about leadership, logistics, and what people actually need than any license exam ever could. It wasn’t always the financially responsible move… But it was always the beautiful move.

I grew up between Sequim and the Hamakua Coast of Hawaii's Big Island. I came back to the Olympic Peninsula because there is genuinely no place I would rather be. I know where the chanterelles come up in October and which beaches hold oysters or warm up enough to swim. I have built cabins by hand and grown my own food from the land. I remember what it was like paying for a three-digit mortgage before the market lost touch, and I know the struggle that buyers are facing now with high interest rates and prices. I have navigated county permit offices and Jefferson County assessor records more times than I can count. I understand this land from the inside and diving into real estate as a profession also became the beautiful move.

What that means for Real Estate

I hold a simple standard that does not change by price point: every client making any real estate move deserves the same care. The $15,000 lot and the $3 million waterfront. The first-time buyer and the estate executor. Because helping folks build the life that they want is also the beautiful move. A move that changes someone's story deserves honesty about what it will cost and what it will give back — and someone in the car who actually knows the road.

I am a licensed broker with Munn Bros Hood Canal Properties, serving buyers and sellers in the Hood Canal Corridor, Jefferson County, and the broader Olympic Peninsula.
